Elizabeth Green, founder and CEO of Brief Media—publisher of leading veterinary publication and reference brands Clinician’s Brief and Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs—has been honored with the 2020 Feather in Her Cap Award.
The 2020 Feather in Her Cap Award was announced Monday, January 20, at VMX in Orlando, Florida. The award recognizes women who have made a major contribution to the animal health industry, to both reward excellence and inspire young women in the industry.
“The women who founded the Feather in Her Cap Award were women who inspired me—women who helped me see that I could make a difference in a more profound way,” said Green. “I’m honored to be celebrated along with this group of phenomenal women who change the animal health profession in a positive way.”
Green’s leadership is founded in empathy—for her employees, for veterinary professionals, for animals, and for media professionals pursuing innovation in publishing. Green excels in partnerships, recognizing that strength is garnered through collaboration. Green has likewise emerged as a strong figure in mentorship: She is closely involved in the development of her employees, many of whom are eager to make an impact on the profession. Outside the office, Green was welcomed to the 36 Degrees North Mentor Program, which gives entrepreneurs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the chance to work with leaders who understand the risks and rewards of navigating a start‑up.
“Beth is a brilliant and innovative visionary,” said Dr. Indu Mani, Brief Media’s chief veterinary officer. “She is also extraordinarily warm, altruistic, kind, and the type of mentor who encourages her people to soar to enormous heights. I feel so very lucky to have Beth as one of my professional guides.”
A philanthropist at heart, Green established a partnership with global charity Mission Rabies to help bring about a better world for people and animals in rabies-endemic areas. With Mission Rabies, Green has helped deploy veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and those passionate about humanitarian efforts to Blantyre and Zomba in Malawi and to Goa, India, contributing tens of thousands of rabies vaccinations as well as education efforts for local communities.
“The growth and continued success of Brief Media as a company is a testament to Elizabeth Green’s business acumen and strong leadership,” said Dr. Amy Mohl, Brief Media’s chief of content strategy. “Her willingness to mentor in multiple settings both within her core business and in her local community and beyond highlights her selflessness and generosity. I can’t think of a woman more deserving of the Feather in Her Cap Award.”
